Career Overview
I began in media sales with Knight Ridder at the Detroit Free Press and excelled. Each quarter for the two and a half years I was with the company, I exceeded quota and maxed out the bonus commission. I was also selected for their management development program for future publishers.
I then moved to the agency side where I very successfully managed and directed three of the largest brands in the world: GM/Chevrolet, Toyota and Ford Lincoln. Repeatedly receiving the highest performance ratings possible from these clients and delivering superior P & L results to the agency attests to a consistent record of superior performance.
I also have extensive distribution and logistics experience.
-
Ran a seven million case distributorship (175-200mm revenue). When I took it over, it was bankrupt and out of product. In less than a year, I grew it to over two percent of Coor’s total worldwide volume, 50% more than it was previously.
-
The distributorship was a roll up of six independent distributors which required rationalization to achieve profitability.
I have also been responsible for branding and marketing consumer products and professional services. The consumer products were targeted to the general market while the professional services were C level sales.
Additionally, I have written ten comprehensive business plans and developed the accompanying financials for private equity groups. I also made the investor presentations on three of them and all three were funded. The plans were for the following industries: golf, loyalty/education, home security, health care, supply chain/statistical process control, hydrogen fuel, communications, digital ad networks, motorcycle manufacturing and distribution, fire arms and munitions. At the very least, this demonstrates an ability to assimilate vast amounts of information on many diverse industries, master it quickly, determine where the opportunity exists and develop the comprehensive strategy that is required for success.
